In this world you will have sisters who wear weave and sisters who don't and you can tell them to leave it alone but at the end of the day they will do what they want to do.

@Laughingstalk human hair was usually used for wigs/extensions in ancient KMT. These wigs/extensions were typically afros, curly and long braids. And BOTH sexes wore them.

Here are a few:

Where did you get they were trying to "emulate" someone else? Where did you get "long and flowing" from?

Please cite your source on 85% of BW wear weave.

I had no idea this kind of thing went on in the UK also. So brothas here and in the UK are saying we dont like weave and sistas are saying that they are doing it because thats what we like... theyre not listening to us, they are doing what they want to do which is what weve been saying all along

I've had this discussion with an ex. She studied African history in college, and proclaimed that weaves were exempt from criticism by black men, and were an integral part of "black culture," because ancient Egyptian women used to make weaves for their hair out of straw.

The question is, where did these ancient Egyptian women get the idea to put something long and flowing in their heads? Whom were they trying to emulate?

If black men fancy women with weaves in their heads, it's not the weaves they're after: it's the BOOTY. The fact that Amber Rose gets play shows that a black woman doesn't have to have weave to be considered attractive.

While it is their choice to wear their hair however they want, weaves and processes are an obstacle. They require high maintenance, and Nia Long proudly proclaimed in "Good Hair," and a woman who wears them is more concerned about dolling up than engaging in other life activities that could be done with a mate. Because 85% of black women do this to their hair doesn't make it any more alluring. If everybody was jumping off of a bridge, would that make it more enticing to jump off a bridge?
