There is no shame in winning the Bus Boycotts of the 1960's. There is no shame in what MLK, Thurgood Marshall, and Julian Bond were able to accomplish during the 1950's & 60's.
Suggesting that Black people had their own commercial bus lines during that time period is making a suggestion that MLK, Marshall, Bond, and Parks were f*cking morons. Black people didn't have a bus company running routes through the South! We had white racist problems during that time period in the South.
The thought process which you are referring to came from two people who obviously were not educated about the civil rights movement. It came from an article in 1990, in which Spike Lee was interviewing Eddie Murphy, and Eddie Murphy pontificated on something that he didn't research. In other words, he was talking out of the side of his neck on some sh*t he didn't research. Spike Lee went along with it, because it fits a stupid, pro-Black ideal that if we stayed segregated, we would have been better off. That sh*t is cra. (Or crazy, depending upon how young you are.)
That silly sh*t was repeated later on in a Libertarian article written by a Black dude in 2007. Spike Lee didn't know what the f*ck he talking about. Sh*t, if you wanna learn something from a short Black dude, who is about the size of Spike Lee who also wears glasses, then watch Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates' Black in Latin America. Now you wandering how Black People got to work and rallies? Well...Black Folk Car pooled. Black folk from the North, And YES White Women from North, as well Jewish Men from the North, and some non racist white women from the south drove Black People.
There was a *charter* bus company with a *church* license. Of course, the same white racist people in Alabama who made it illegal for a Black person to sit at the front of the bus were never going to let a Black person legally own a bus company in the same state. The charter bus company started with two busses that grew to 18 by the time Crawford died in 2010 at the age of 90, which they donated to the civil rights movement for marches. There was never an option for regular Black people to regularly pay his company to ride to work every day. That was both impossible and illegal, and before you look down on your people they had enough white people to fight at that present moment. The son of the owner is quoted online about how much better the South is today, than then. He says he lives in a mixed community and is very happy.

The Business Beyond Baseball Though the Ensley All Stars folded in 1953, Crawford had replaced the coal truck with a bus (the %u201COrange Blossom,%u201D called such for its color) and he soon added another bus to provide services for church groups who wanted to charter his buses. African-American churches could not have booked rides on a Greyhound charter, so Crawford%u2019s business offered opportunities that had not been available to them.
When Crawford went to the county clerk to get the required license for operating a bus company, the people in the county clerk%u2019s office laughed at his request, responding with: %u201CAin%u2019t no such things as a Nigger bus company.%u201D The fellow in the office proceeded to explain that the only kind of black-owned bus that would be eligible for a license would have to be a church vehicle.
Worcy Crawford always intended to do the right thing but when faced with an obstacle, ingenuity came to his rescue. Crawford contacted an attorney and the Trinity A.M.E. Church and worked out a deal. He went back and applied for a bus license for the Trinity Church; it cost $1.50 instead of the $22 a commercial license would have cost. In addition, insurance rates were lower for church vehicles, and churches were exempt from income tax. In this one case, Crawford writes: %u201C%u2026thank you racism!%u201D
As the title of the book indicates, the Crawford buses soon became important vehicles with Crawford donating the buses for trips to Montgomery and Washington for various marches with the civil rights movement, with Crawford asking only for gas money for the trips. Staying segregated and thinking that you're going to achieve the same amount as white people while living in the United States is a f*cking fantasy. Any race of people who stayed or thought that they were going to stay segregated got invaded and enslaved. That's the flat f*cking truth. Look up the history of Scotland. Look up the history of Ireland. And you'll find out: they f*cked them up too. It wasn't just you. The "Great Wall of China" was built to segregate China from the rest of the barbaric world. They were invaded by Japan.
