Another thing they kept pulling out of their bags of shaming tricks. They kept saying black women are hypocrites because they'll run to see a movie with a black woman and non black man hi-fiving the actress all the way. Umm when it comes to IR, or just desirability, who doesn't do that? White men want black women but don't want white women to be with black men. Black men want all the women but don't want black women to be with white men. White women want black men but don't want white men with black women. Asian, Latino, Arab men...same thing. People will go see a movie that has them in it with someone else but won't want to see someone else in "their spot" sort to speak. It's so stupid to even bring that up. No one wants to support something that comes across as "dissing" them or shutting them out.

I keep saying this---things other people do, or would do, if put in black women's situation, they act like only black women do. Even if they say black women do it MORE, it's still a fucking moot point because it's done more BECAUSE of what has happened, and continues to happen, to black women not DESPITE it. These dudes are the fucking WORST. The WORST to ever live.

@Xtra
We know black men aren't running out to see no movies with black women in it. They bitched and moaned about "For Colored Girls" and boycotted. As they should have. Black men won't run out to go see Joyful Noise starring Keke Palmer and her non black lead partner. And they certainly didn't run and take their daughters to see "Princess and the Frog". It was the first black Disney Princess that their daughters could "look up to" (using their logic) Black men are like white women, they don't say anything they just don't support it. Yet they're acting like only black women cause a stir...which if you were on Clutch, black women were ASKED more about this. They don't ask white women, black men, or even white men what they're willing to go see because everyone likes to shine the spotlight on black women when black men are in IR relationships as to push forth the LIE that ONLY black women have issues with it and insecurities because of it. Truthfully the only reason why there's more of a stir is because black women have allowed this to go on too long where they did constantly support things that didn't cater to them. And subsequently got internalized inferiority because of that shit. Truthfully, black women have been lenient over who they've supported that didn't deserve it. Yet are labeled the most bitter and overreacting ones. Replacing white women couldn't have gone on once much less so many times over the years. Not that it would come to that because white men stop that before it even reaches white women.

Check this irony---I was on Clutch and this dude I kinda had words with told me to check out a music video by B.O.B. He said it was one saying all the girls in the world were beautiful but excluded blondes and there was a big uproar about that. Please follow me now because you might think you're in an alternative universe. Yes, I said it, a black rapper made a video and didn't cast blondes(you know the girls who always get cast for EVERYTHING since they're the standard of beauty?) and they were upset and had it out in the comment section apparently. So a white woman can demand(and be upset) she isn't cast in a black male's video but a black woman doing so is(insert negative adjective here). Mind you, this is already on top of being casted in white men's videos and black women never being casted in white, black, Asian, Latino, Indian etc videos.

This is the shit black men have allowed to take place. It's THEIR faults. I can't hate them anymore than I do now. They deserve (let me keep that to myself).

B.O.B video I used to see the advertising of it all the time but never clicked on it because the thumb had him with and ambiguous looking girl but he repp'd a lot of great looking black women in it.

If anyone was attempted to be shamed into seeing The Help it was black women. Another damn story of black women in some low ass position written by a white woman any damn way.

Besides the fact there is no way in hell anyone would even attempt to shame black men into seeing a movie with all black women cast, no black men plus a white male love interest on the premise of supporting black women portrayed in a positive light.(support the women)

Black women shouldn't have seen The Help, NO WAY. And most certainly shouldn't have tried to shame others into seeing it. My problem IS the shaming. I'm trying to do something for black women and I don't appreciate interference from the sidelines. Black women NEED to express to other black women how we've been lead down the wrong path. Boycotts or better portrayals. That's what's on the table now. And since I KNOW they will NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER portray us in a positive light, it's all BOYCOTTS. I do MY part, TRUST. Ask Pepsi about me. Oops they haven't heard from me in awhile. Ask Tyler...oh he can't find me either.

And you have EVERY right to boycott anything that doesn't suit your needs, Precious and The Help included. I'm glad you were not labeled a jealous IR hater for doing so though. And core issue deflected from. Black male privilege. It DOES exist.

Just keep on hating, Divine. Obviously, there must be something wrong with a black guy doing ANYTHING positive. Nobody didn't try to boycott Soul Plane, Phat Beach or Belly 1 and 2. Of all the black films ever made, someone had to make a sequel to...BELLY! We're constantly told to be role models in real life and in "reel" life (i.e. film). One movie comes out showing positive role models, and some of us STILL aren't satisfied?!

"I'm sorry was the CGI effect(which we're told was horrible) the first used in BLACK films? You act as if black CGI effects are different from any others for them to not know what they're doing...? So we can't judge them too harshly?"

Who said they were horrible? Like I said, horrible compared to what? There's nothing to compare it to.

Bottom line: The Tuskegee Airmen that are living right now LOVED it. Good enough for me.

Now if you don't like it, email or tweet Oprah, Tyler Perry, Spike Lee, Kasi Lemmons, Fishburne, anybody who think they can do it better. We have the black celebrities, right? Put their money where their mouths.

And our people wouldn't be taking scraps if they never made BELLY in the first place. SMDH...One major film about black MALE heroes, none of the them were saggin', none of them were flipping gang signs and none of them were in a fat suit, a wig and a dress...and some folks are upset??? Why can't we boycott a film like "State Property" or Belly. Either support positive films from the jump or none at all.

"I was more mad they tried to shame black women into seeing the movie than them cutting black women out."

Just like last year when females were dragging/shaming BM into watching "The Help" six months ago.

I'm more marveled at black men getting on their knees thanking the Great White Man for coming through for them. Basically saying that only he could do it and acting like he delivered. If a man if sucking another man's dick then they can't be mad at black women for not respecting them as "men" or feeling like they can't do shit. Even they're saying this. No fan of Tyler Perry but many black men are dissing him while praising Lucas. What's the difference between a black woman saying only white men do and them doing it? NOTHING. They don't know the mixed messages they send and you pick up.

I was more mad they tried to shame black women into seeing the movie than them cutting black women out. I expect that to happen. I also expected something to go wrong since Lucas called himself "helping" blacks. So I wasn't worked up over that at all. Now, as per usual, I used that to urge black women to not support it. I can only do my part. Some listened, others didn't. Oh well, the latter group are the same ones feeling like shit when they're not desired, married, or if black men love other races. Those types of women go hand in hand. Love taking scraps as well as putting their hand in the fire. As I said on Clutch, I don't go anywhere(concert, movie, etc) for anyone to tell me I ain't shit. Whether overtly or otherwise.

Does anyone realize the biggest problem with this is that the film is talking about dealing with discrimination and racism and overcoming it. That is the main story really. That is really problematic when the makers of the movie then discriminate against black women by cutting them out of the film.

They could have even added a fictional version of the story of Mildred Cater wife of airman Herbert Carter, she was also a pilot and got her license at the Tuskegee pilot training school. I think that would make a great story.

How do you think the two of them dealt with him being able to fly but her being rejected from the Women's Air force Service Pilots due to her race?

Tell me this shit wouldn't make for a good movie...

"She was Alabamas first licensed black female pilot, a civilian flying a Piper Cub, and he was a Tuskegee Airman at the controls of a much bigger, faster Army Air Corps trainer.

They flew in a two-plane formation over Kowaliga a handsome young man in one and his woman in the other laughing and exchanging silent I love you signals over their engine noise 3,000 feet above the lake.

We didnt have radio contact, so we made up for it with hand signals and blew kisses at each other, the retired Air Force lieutenant colonel said Tuesday afternoon. It was a lot of fun.I was a maintenance officer as well as a combat pilot and one of my jobs was to take planes up for a test flight after we worked on them, he said.

Thats when we came up with the idea of flying over the lake. Nobody ever said anything to me about what we did.Herbert Carter Jr., one of the couples three children, said his mother often regretted that she came along a little too early and couldnt achieve her dream of becoming a WASP (Womens Air Force Service Pilots), which was an all-white female group that served during World War II."

@Southpaw
"@Divinebrown, What inferiority complex are you talking about?"
==========================
The one right about HERE(see right below)........

"Was Red Tails the best film ever? No. But was it the Worst film ever? Also no."
==================================
You're ok with it not being the best film produced "after all this time"(According to George Lucas) because you're content comparing it to the WORST. And since it wasn't the WORST, it's good...scratch that, great(considering it could've been horrid).

"My goodness, it's the first time this story was ever put on the screen in a non-documentary film form, outside of cable. How does it SUCK compared to what??? COMPARED TO WHAT??"
===========================
Every time is a first time. It was the first time they made TITANIC(in the way they did) and it was EPIC. It was the first time they made TROY(in the way they did) and that was EPIC. IT DOESN'T NEED TO BE THE FIRST TIME. All you need is a super budget which they had(if you believe Lucas) so----CHECK and a great director---CHECK.

"What other black films do you know with CGI or super special effects? Can you say Zero?"
===============================
Come again? Why are you comparing what was PRODUCED to other black films? A WELL KNOWN BILLIONAIRE WHITE director produced this with(supposedly)a $100million budget. MR STAR WARS HIMSELF!!!! STAR WARS WITH SPECIAL EFFECT LIGHT SABERS and out of this world galaxies!!!! And the CGI effects...is that supposed to mean something? I'm sorry was the CGI effect(which we're told was horrible) the first used in BLACK films? You act as if black CGI effects are different from any others for them to not know what they're doing...? So we can't judge them too harshly?

"I don't remember any Avatars during "Madea Goes To Jail". I don't remember any 3-D drive-by shootings in "State Property" or "Belly" 1 or 2!"
==================================
Again, you can't, or rather, shouldn't compare a famous white director (with lots at his disposal's) output to that of other low funded black films. I'm comparing RESOURCES, EXPERIENCE, AND A WELL KNOWN DIRECTOR. It shouldn't matter WHO'S in the film just who's behind the camera and how much he has to work with. Surprisingly, they had everything and came up short(sarcasm)

"Obviously, you've never worked on a feature film before, because regardless if a film was made independently or made/distributed by Hollywood, just getting it made is a feat within itself."
=====================================
Aww and you're just so THANKFUL. So teary-eyed you'll take SCRAPS. Remember question number 1? You answered yourself again. You're trained to accept less and be grateful. He gave you all this sob story about how it 1.)Took him 20 yrs to make 2.)No one else would touch it 3.)He funded it out of his own pockets and voila...all other concerns go out the window.

"And the bottom line is this: the REAL LIFE TUSKEGEE AIRMEN LOVED IT!! That's what really counts!"
==============================
Of course they loved it. He's the white savior who's telling "their" story after all. I mean, no one else wanted to. And he came outta pocket to do it? Such a nice man. Y'all are indebted to him. Even if it was the worst thing, just those things they sold you guys on, would make it impossible for you all to complain since "Tyler ain't doing no shit like this" right? BAR is LOW. Inferiority is HIGH.

"Everyone else can wipe their asses with their negative critiques! Inferior complex, my ass!"
====================================
LOLz. Well you know what they say...Haters gon' hate.

@Ladies. You know another part to this is the HUMAN need for EVERYONE to want to see themselves, not only on screen, but depicted in a positive way, and shown their many accomplishments. Not just the negatives all the time. Understandable right? I mean, that's why these black men are so GRATEFUL. Funny how when black females want to see this(esp for the kids), black women are told they're being stupid and it's not necessary. That's until a "Black Girls Rock" comes up and then it's "Well it's important for black boys to be included too...what MESSAGE does that send"? Prior to these things happening, the same dudes will tell you, "Well your parents need to teach you" or act like it's something you need to have within yourself...especially since "Media doesn't have an impact or a MAJOR one"
