RESP Heavenly Truths series on Dwayne McDuffie

Outstanding documentary! A must see!

Oh, and the superhero whose name escaped me in the video was The Green Arrow who was initially a black superhero and part of The Justice League of America of the seventies, if I remember correctly, that now is being depicted as a white superhero for the most part.

@Afunkydamsel,

The hero you're referring to is Green Lantern, who was originally white(Alan Scott). Probably the most famous Lantern was Hal Jordan. The black Green Lantern you're referring to is John Stewart. Their have been multiple Green Lanterns, unlike most comics, the hero isn't ageless, so the mantle passes on. John Stewart was like the 4th or 5th Lantern and I believe he started sometime in the 70's. Green Lantern has been around since the 40's

@Afunkydamsel,

I'm impressed that a woman was so caught up in this man's story. Especially when his main craft had to do with comic books.

Just incase you do decide to seek out McDuffie's work don't be suprised if those back issues of his comics turn out to be a bit expensive. That tends to happen when an artist or writer passes.

Nice video response.

A devil's advocate would say:

This man was so intelligent, impressive & accomplished yet BW either didnt want him or relate to him so he ended up finding love in another race...makes you think about what those disgruntled men on gen-x complain about, lol.

I am certainly very pleased that you appreciated the documentary on him, I too learned of him late however I was a fan of his work without even know who he was because all of my favourite episodes of the justice league just so happened to be written by him.

He is pretty much responsible for my passion for this kind of work so you can be sure he has inspired a lot of people particularly black men to be all they can be.

I believe there is a fan page on facebook for him but you can always find stuff on him with a few google searches but there are other black artists who you can follow, I have put some of them in my last blog.
