Sarge I don't agree with your assessment. Period. So when male atheletes talk take about the lack of respect they receive for their professional accomplishments or winning record ( which i see all the damn time on espn and tnt) are they jealous of light skin / white skin. Was Isaiah Thomas jealous of Bird's light skin?.............crickets
When black people have a legitimate gripe white america says we're " playing the race card" When black women have a legitimate issue with the media who they addressed DIRECTLY in your eyes " they are playing the color card"......See the similarities. By the way the reporter in the interview did what reporters do and tried to instagate by saying" Were talking about Lolo jones" Which is what journalist / reporters do all the time. Still they didn't speak ill of Lolo.

Dawn Harper is an Olympic GOLD medalist and came into these games as a defending champion. She's earned the RESPECT she's asking for.

More on Dawn Harper's pedigree...

1) AFAIK, Dawn Harper was one of only three US track team members at London 2012 as an Olympic defending champion - That's a RESPECTABLE story right there. (The other two were LaShawn Merritt and Angelo Taylor)

2) No-one in history has ever successfully defended a 100mH Olympic title. Going into the games, 'Will Dawn Harper make history?' would have been a RESPECTABLE story.

In taking silver, Dawn Harper came as close as she could get to re-taking the gold. In addition, she ran a PB and was only out by 0.02 seconds. RESPECT!

3) Dawn Harper has shown consistent progression throughout her career --> Look at her season's best times from 2001 to the present
http://www.iaaf.org/athletes/biographies/letter=h/country=usa/athcode=188986/index.html
There's a RESPECTABLE story right there

4) A medal (particularly gold, of course) is the highest track honour and the biggest stage is the Olympics closely followed by the World Championships. Between those two, Dawn Harper has collected a complete set of medals
- 1 Gold, 1 Silver, 1 Bronze.
So even though she missed out (by 0.02 seconds) on a second Olympic gold, there's still a cute and very RESPECTABLE story there.

5) Dawn Harper's name appears on the World Championships medalists' roster - RESPECT!

6) Dawn Harper's name appears on the Olympic medalists' roster -TWICE!!
- RESPECT! RESPECT!

7) Dawn Harper's name appears on the All-Time Top Ten roster - RESPECT!

Dawn Harper has earned the RESPECT she's asking for

KELLIE WELLS has made it onto the world stage on two occasions:

- 2011 World Championships, finalist but DNF

- 2012 Olympics, Bronze. She medaled at the biggest stage! Not to be sniffed at.

@30

Who says

"In the interviews I say of Dawn and Kelly, they addressed the MEDIA but never even mentioned LoLo's name. All of the sudden the are hating on Lolo. I think not. I think they made an honest assessment of their experience. The world of white supremacy is always extremely critical of black people. We as black people are influenced by white supremacy therefore we are often overly critical of blacks as well."

They didn't have to say her name - they implied it

Hence the white news anchor saying and I qoute

"if you don't know who we're talking about we're talking about Lolo jones"

Hence harpers statement "they pushed our story aside for her"

Who is her?

Come on now - lets not be stupid

swp,

you remember how pissed off you got when you came up with catchy ass phrases like "hotep ass nigga" and then tariq nasheed used those phrases and ended up getting 100 times more publicity than you? i mean you're the witty motherfucker who coined the phrase and you got this pretty boy prima donna getting all the attention that's rightfully yours. what kinda bullshit is that?

well that's precisely how those 2 blue black mailbox, bell pepper nosed, nappy headed piccaninnies felt. they went out and performed in the greatest athletic competition for their sport. and what's their reward? they get to see an also ran (no pun intended) getting all the press that's rightfully theirs.

i'd expect you, of all people, to be more empathetic of their situation.

YES Harper was being hostile due to her envy of Lolo. I know some black folk do not want to here it BUT IT IS THE TRUTH.

Wells seems more of the jealous type, as opposed to envious, which is why she did NOT react as "bad" as Harper.

They don't give out medals during the qualifying rounds, just the opportunity to advance to the next stage of the competition.

The only way the measured result at a preliminary event would develope any significance is if a world/games record was broken.
